Growing up, the tastiest meals my grandparents cooked where always the simplest. I can’t deny how that simplicity parallels with my art; something as simple as a pencil can produce some of the most beautiful works.
I submit to anyone that art is not a “talent.” I wholeheartedly believe it is a learned skill.
Sure it might come more natural to some, just sitting down and opening your mind to the possibility of creating something. Not so much concerned with technicality, just letting your eyes take in the color, the shape, you start to see things differently; the planes of a person’s face for instance.
Once you have those simple, classic cornerstones, you start to become playful with it, start taking these simple fundamental things and pushing and playing with them.
